ALPINE AERO SQUADRON JULY 2004 NEWSLETTER

These are the minutes for July 10, 2004 meeting. Our President Tom Clark brought the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the minutes of the June meeting as read at the July meeting. Thirteen club members were present at the July meeting. The club now has 93 members.

Bob Middleton reported that we have $3003.03 in the bank as July 8, 2004. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented.

Old Business:
The club did pretty well on the Gate problem last month, only the inner Gate was left open one time. We only have 5 months before the Float Fly, so lets get building and have a Float Plane ready for the Float Fly. Tom Clark has a Float Plane ready to Fly, so if someone would like to fly a Model Airplane with Floats, Tom Clark would let you fly His Float Plane. Float Fly will be coming up in November at Otay Lake. We need quite a few volunteers to help run the Float Fly & make sure everything is set up by 8:00 am Sunday morning. We don’t know the date right now, but it may be the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

New Business:
The Club is looking into buying hats for the Alpine Aero Squadron members; the hats will cost each member $5.00. Some sample Hats will be brought to the August meeting so that one of the hats will be voted on to represent the best hat for the club.

Joe Macias brought 6 collectable ignition Engines in, 3 Racecar Engines, 60 size & 3 Airplane Engines, 65 size. The racecar engines drive a car on a very smooth flat concrete slab about 80 feet in diameter. The cars run around a circle on theater steel line 25 to 30 feet in length. The car travels around the circle at 125 miles per hour and since the Engines have no throttle the driving tires wear out pretty fast.

A raffle is held at each meeting and the raffle tickets are 6 for $5.00. The following members won items at the raffle. Tom Clark=One Gallon of 15% Fuel.
Thomas Seevers - Nose Gear.
Howard Valentine - Silicone Rubber Starter Adapter & a 12 Ounce Fuel Tank.
Wayne Bolin - Prop Reamer.
Shon Joseph - Gold-n-Rods.
Bob Middleton - 2” Letters.
Regan Schutte - 6 Piece Precision Screwdriver Set.
Stan Skoff - Fourmost Sanding Stick with Sanding Paper.

The next meeting of the Alpine Aero Squadron will be at 7:30 p.m August 12, 2004, (second Thursday) at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 1675 Madison Avenue, El Cajon, CA. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 pm.
