ALPINE AERO SQUADRON AUGUST 2005 NEWSLETTER These are the minutes for the August 11, 2005 meeting. Our President Tom Clark brought the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the minutes of the July meeting as read at the August meeting. Ten club members were present at July meeting.
Mark Miller reported that we have $4021.19 in the bank as August 11, 2005. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the Treasurers report as presented.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. By Law, No engine-powered model may be used in the county of San Diego except between the hours of 7:00 am and 9:00 pm. (Electrics do not fall into the category of engine powered.) 2. Avoid flying louder (95 db or higher) aircraft until 9:00 am in order to prevent further complaints and to remain neighbor friendly. 3. Avoid full throttle at great distances from the runway. Keep your planes low (below the hilltops) or close by when flying at full throttle for the same reason as above.
Sealing of the runway was discussed and as of this writing was completed on Tuesday 8/16/2005. Scout the field before flying as there are a few areas with tire ruts that need to be fixed. Some of them will sheer your landing gear off for sure. The Club paid $1450.00 to have the runway sealed.
NEW BUSINESS:
A motion was made, seconded and approved to change the Bylaws as follows:
1. The Alpine Aero Squadron shall have a maximum membership limit of 100 total members, due to limited parking and difficulty in controlling access thru the lower gates. If necessary, the Board shall maintain a waiting list for new memberships until an available slot opens. Memberships may not be sold or bartered but shall be on a first come, first served basis only.
2. All new memberships must be approved by a Quorum of the board of directors. Four (4) board members must sign the application form. If 4 members of the board are not available, the applicant may fly as a guest, subject to all club and AMA rules, until the application is reviewed by the board. Gate keys shall only be issued after the application is approved and dues and initiation fees are paid in full.
The amendments will be read for approval prior to the vote at the September meeting 9/8/2005.
New memberships will not be accepted until this matter has been decided. New applicants may fly pursuant to Membership section F of the Bylaws. If a $10 fee is paid for one month of flying, the fee shall be applied to the dues if membership is approved.
Note: Current membership is 95.
