ALPINE AERO SQUADRON SEPTEMBER 2004 NEWSLETTER

These are the minutes for September 9, 2004 meeting. Our President Tom Clark brought the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the minutes of the August meeting as read at the September meeting. Fourteen club members were present at the September meeting. The club now has 94 members.

Bob Middleton reported that we have $2279.11 in the bank as September 9, 2004. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented.

Old Business:
The Float Fly will be November 21st, 2004 at Otay Lake. We need quite a few volunteers to help run the event & make sure everything is set up by 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The Club will be giving $300.00 in prize money. Pilots will be required to pay $10.00 to fly & will receive one free raffle ticket. Drinks, Coffee & Doughnuts will be provided. Bob Middleton has the hats the Club has order, 48 Khaki Tan, 48 Navy Blue & 48 Royal Blue. The hats will cost $5.00 for anyone who would like to purchase one or more.

New Business:
Dues are $40.00 for the whole year & are due by December 31st, 2004.

Joe Macias brought in 3 collectable ignition Engines for Airplanes. A very rare single cylinder 2.65 by M. L. Weiss made between 1914-1916. A rare twin cylinder 3.415 by Jim Brown made around 1914, and a single cylinder .60 with two Sparks Plugs in the Head made in 1948 by Hayward Connelly.

A raffle is held at each meeting and the raffle tickets are 6 for $5.00. The following members won items at the raffle.
Thomas Beecroft - Two Silicone Fuel Tubing’s Red & Blue.
Regan Schutte - One Gallon of 15% Fuel.
Shon Joseph - 2 Tubes of Ca Glue Thick & Thin.
Nathaniel Porter - 2 Tubes of CA Glue Thick & Thin, 5 Minute Epoxy Glue, Engine Mount Hole Locator & a Light Duty #1 Knife-Set of Three.
Bob Middleton - Silicone Rubber Adapter for a Starter.
Mark Miller - 6 Piece Ballpoint Allen Wrenches (Millimeter).
Joe Macias - 8 Piece Ballpoint Allen Wrenches (Standard) & a Prop Reamer.

The next meeting of the Alpine Aero Squadron will be at 7:30 p.m. October 14, 2004, (second Thursday) at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 1675 Madison Avenue, El 8:05 Cajon, CA. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m. Check your controls prior to your first flight of the day.
