ALPINE AERO SQUADRON NOVEMBER 2004 NEWSLETTER

These are the minutes for the November 10, 2004 meeting. Our President Tom Clark brought the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the minutes of the October meeting as read at the November meeting. Fourteen club members were present at the October meeting. The club now has 97 members.

Bob Middleton reported that we have $2776.96 in the bank as November 10, 2004. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented.

Old Business:
Yearly dues become due on December 31st of each year. Dues are $40.00 for the whole Year. When leaving the field make sure both gates are locked if you are the last on to leave the field. On weekdays make sure the second gate is lock if the country is still working. Mark Miller will be the new Treasurer until December 31st, 2004.

The Float Fly will be November 21st, 2004 at Otay Lake. We need quite a few volunteers to help run the event & make sure everything is set up by 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The Club will be giving $300.00 in gift certificates & prizes. Pilots will be required to pay $10.00 to fly & will receive one free raffle ticket. Drinks, Coffee & Doughnuts will be provided. Steve Mitchell will be bringing the Soft Drinks, Tom Seevers will be bringing the Doughnuts & Tom Clark will be bringing the Coffee to the Float Fly.

New Business:
Nominees for board for the year 2005 will be voted on at the December meeting.

The Club gave Bob Middleton a 6’ foot Windmill for his exceptional job while he was the Treasurer. Bob Middleton has been nominated as an honorary member of the Alpine Aero Squadron Club. Bob Middleton will be leaving for Dallas Texas at the end of November.

A raffle is held at each meeting and the raffle tickets are 6 for $5.00. The following members won items at the raffle.

Tom Clark - Hot Sock Iron Cover.
Nathaniel Porter - 4 way Wrench for R/C Cars, Sanding Stick with Sanding Paper, Tail Wheel Bracket.
Shon Joseph - Pin Vice with drills.

The next meeting of the Alpine Aero Squadron will be at 7:30 p.m. December 9th, 2004, (2nd Thursday) at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 1675 Madison Avenue, El Cajon, CA. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m. Check your controls prior to your first flight of the day.

The following Proposed Amendments have been presented and approved by the members attending the November 10th, 2004 meeting. The final vote will be taken at the December 9th, 2004 meeting.

Alpine Aero Squadron Proposed Bylaw Amendments: November 10, 2004

General Club Operating Procedures:

Section B – Expenses

Club operating expenses shall be paid from the treasury. Expenditures in excess of $200.00 must be paid by a check signed by two (2) officers. Special funding may be authorized by the membership.

The Board of Directors is authorized to spend up to $200.00 in a single expenditure to expedite paying club administrative expenses.

Expenditures over $200.00 must be authorized by a majority vote of the members present at the monthly meeting.

Note: If approved, this change will become effective on 1-1-2005.

Organization: Section B

Paragraph 3 – Treasurers duties.

The Treasurer shall collect all monies and keep records of income and expenditures. He shall report at each meeting on all monies received, spent and the treasury balance. He shall maintain a bank checking account in the club’s name and process bank signature cards for all the club officers. Two board members (one should be the Treasurer) must sign all club checks in excess of $200.00. He will arrange for the transfer of the account to the succeeding Treasurer. He shall process the club chartering paperwork with the Academy of Model Aeronautics. The Board of Directors will audit the Books at least once per year.

Note: If approved, this change will become effective on 1-1-2005.

Membership: Section C – Dues

Yearly dues become due on January 1st of each year. Membership renewal shall start on October 1st and continue through December 31st. A 15-day grace period shall be allowed after December 31st. Members who have not paid their yearly dues by January 15th shall be dropped from the club roster and will be considered Non-Members, subject to new member initiation fees. Exceptions to this rule due to special circumstances where the member was unavailable or unable to pay during the 3-month renewal period may only be approved by a vote of the Board of Directors requiring 3 out of 5 members consenting.

Note: if approved, this change will become effective for the 2006 renewal period starting 9-1-2005.
